Men's Shed is an opportunity for men of all ages to gather, socialise and learn new skills - the idea originally comes from Australia.
In May 2017 we held an information session, to find out if men would be interested in being part of a “shed” type facility. From that meeting we had a group of 5 - 7 men who had expressed an interest in many different activities, including woodwork classes. Last year the men were working on a project to build a market cart so we could display our allotment produce.
This year we hope to increase the level of activities we are offering and the opening times of the shed, so watch this space for further information.

The Volunteer role is a 'gift relationship' binding only in honour, trust and understanding.
Our volunteer programme offers a great way to get involved with our work here at AEL. There is a minimum time commitment of 3 hours per week and you'll be reimbursed for expenses you incur. Some of our successful trainees who have found employment, come back as volunteers to lend their support and continue their connection with AEL.
Volunteers are expected to attend group support sessions and complete AEL’S Learning Disability, Autism Awareness and Safeguarding training.
Our mission at AEL is to, "work in partnership with others to provide a centre of excellence; offering opportunities for disadvantaged individuals." Volunteers play an important part in this and often form strong bonds with our trainees.
