LET'S WORK TOGETHER

Community Shed

Employer support | AEL | Access Employment Ltd

Community Shed enables local residents and trainees from AEL to come together to work on various project, activities and courses including horticulture, woodwork, educational and hobby subjects in a safe and supported environment.

Courses change on a regular basis, you can keep up to date with what's on by following our AEL facebook page or by calling into reception .

Using our social enterprise model, we will grow produce and create other products for re-sale, to generate profits which will go back into AEL and the shed project. We also hope to utilise the skill base of those involved, to provide peer support to the trainees we work with, many of whom have learning disabilties/difficulties, providing further opportunities for inclusion. .

In additional we have our Naggy Burn Allotments group for those renting an allotment from us. The group hold regular social events and can be found tending their crops late into the evening especially when we have some sunshine to enjoy.

Volunteering

Promoting a Life of Independence, Fulfilment & Experiences

Volunteering | AEL | Access Employment Ltd

The Volunteer role is a 'gift relationship' binding only in honour, trust and understanding.

Our volunteer programme offers a great way to get involved with our work here at AEL. There is a minimum time commitment of 3 hours per week and you'll be reimbursed for expenses you incur. Some of our successful trainees who have found employment, come back as volunteers to lend their support and continue their connection with AEL.

Volunteers are expected to attend group support sessions and complete AEL’S Learning Disability, Autism Awareness and Safeguarding training.

Our mission at AEL is to, "work in partnership with others to provide a centre of excellence; offering opportunities for disadvantaged individuals." Volunteers play an important part in this and often form strong bonds with our trainees.

If you'd like to learn more about our Volunteer programme or have some questions feel free to get in touch using the links below, or check out the Volunteer page by clicking here.
